Most of the major religions are based on principals contained in a book, or books that have been preserved for each generation to use and pass down to the next. This book will give the ‘believer’ knowledge of the teachings of that particular religion and in most cases provide a blueprint for life. In general we can break this down into three major categories: Man’s relationship to God, man’s relationship to men, and man’s relationship to himself. Each one of these is then further broken down into much smaller subtopics. The importance of the written word is that it does not change. It is supposed to keep the clergy of the religion from corrupting the religion with their own agenda.

Of course to a Baptist, the King James Bible is the only book from which we derive our doctrine or teachings. The King James Bible is the perfect preserved Word of God, and therefore incorrupt and infallible. To a Muslim, someone who practices Islam, their book is called the Qur’an. A Muslim man will fight just as vehemently for the Qur’an as a Baptist will for the Bible. If we are going to understand Islam we must understand the Qur’an.

It is important to understand Islam because it is the fastest growing religion in the world. Islam is ranked 2nd in world religions, only behind Christianity.  This is very significant because 53% of those included in the Christian category are catholic, so the total number of truly saved people is less than 16% of the worlds population, while Muslims have a 20% share. There are approximately 1.1 billion Muslims in the world right now, with 5.5 million of them living right here in the United States. Even in a western culture recent events have shown it has a commanding hold on those who embrace it. Muslims will have no chance if they do not trust Christ as their Savior, and they will not trust Christ if we can not talk to them intelligently about what they believe and why it is wrong.

The Qur’an was written in the 7th century by Muhammad, a Saudi Arabian born man, who at the age of 40 felt he was called to be a prophet. From this point on he spent his time writing various portions of what we now know as the Qur’an. Muslims believe that one of the miracles of the Qur’an is the fact that Muhammad supposedly was illiterate. I believe there is a good explanation for this, as we know that there is only one Word of God. First let us take into account the life and circumstance of Muhammad. The world’s agreed upon facts are these: Muhammad was an orphan, raised by his grandfather and uncle; he was very opinionated about the current moral and cultural temperature in the Arab world. About the age of 25 he was to marry Khadija, a widow from a wealthy family. Before his marriage to Khadija he served her as a commercial agent. At the age of 40 he began his writings of the Qur’an. Many of these writing sessions were ‘given’ in a cave. Now we will discuss the possible of the origin of the Qur’an.

I believe the source of the Qur’an is Muhammad himself. The following is my opinion based upon what I have learned in studying the history of the Qur’an and Muhammad. His moral beliefs and assertive attitude concerning the Arab world were highly influenced by the fact that he was an orphan, and by certain people in his life such as his grandfather, uncle, and wife. His grandfather and uncle no doubt would try to instill him with confidence and self-esteem to help overcome the pain of being orphaned, giving him a strong since of loyalty to his people and knowledge of his heritage. His wife, however, is the key element to this conspiracy. We know that she was a widow and that she was wealthy. This would lead us to believe that she had at least a basic education, possibly even literate. What we don’t hear often though, is that her cousin, Waraqah ibn Nawfal, is credited with translating the Bible from Hebrew to Arabic. His wife teaches him to read in the early years of their marriage. He is one of the few people at that time who gets to see his cousin-in-law’s Arabic translation of the Bible. He realizes that because he is a descendant of Ishmael, that he is not promised the same things as Isaac, Jacob, ect. He sees there are only two directions according to the Bible his people can go, either with the Jews, or the Christians. In his own pride, and upbringing he decides that there must be something more for the descendents of Ishmael, so at the age of forty he begins to work on his own thoughts, and his own ideals of religion.

The Bible was so accepted across the world already, and it was on the brink of being available to all Arabic speaking people. Because of this he chooses to incorporate some accounts and change certain others, but he leaves in enough to give his own writings credibility. Many scholars have read the Qur’an and agree that it is a beautifully and masterfully crafted piece of literature, so if God did not influence him, who did? Many times Muhammad would go into a cave to ‘receive’ portions of the Qur’an; why a cave? God spoke to Moses from a mountain top and from a burning bush, never did God speak to Moses from a cave, men used caves primarily to hide in. I believe he went to the caves because he was hiding two terrible things, the first is that he was copying portions of the Arabic Bible, and secondly, because he was being directly influenced by Satan himself.

Some may disagree with this notion; however, I believe it is entirely possible. We know that in the end times Satan, via the false-prophet will try to copy the work of the Holy Spirit, for satanic purposes. I firmly believe that the Qur’an is Satan’s attempt to copy the Bible, again, for satanic purposes. The problem the Qur’an encountered is that Satan is not smarter than God, so while God’s Holy Word could transcend to other languages and keep the same meaning, the Qur’an can not. That is why they claim it can only be recited and understood in Arabic. In addition to the fact that by this method, they can twist and turn the Qur’an to fit western civilizations.

A small comparison of the Bible with the Qur’an will show several key issues that stand out. For one, Islam does embrace certain books of the Bible, but the Bible does not mention anything about the Qur’an. Genesis seems to be accepted by the Qur’an, yet almost every major doctrine Baptist hold to is found in seed form in the book of Genesis, so if Muslims disagree with our doctrines then they have a problem with their own teachings. Why do Muslims not offer a blood sacrifice? Why did God make a covenant with Isaac and not Ishmael? Why was that covenant furthered with Jacob? Why are there so many details left out of the Qur’an that are contained in the Bible, if Muslims are to discard the Bible as inferior to the Qur’an?

The explanation to the above questions is simple; there is only one Bible and the Qur’an is quite possibly the biggest lie that has ever been told. One has to wonder why though? Why would a book like the Qur’an exist? I believe it is because a poor orphaned Arab was a sore loser. When he was confronted with the truth of how Ishmael was not to be the seed of Abraham, he felt robbed somehow and hatred grew in his heart. This hatred was used of Satan to create, arguably, the second most influential book in the history of the world. Satan needs religion to bring the world together, so he can be the head of a one world religion. What better way to begin the false religion than by using a man to pen the very lies of Satan? After all, God almighty had used men to write His Word. It is quite possible that the Anti-Christ will be Muslim and that he will use religion to rally the armies for the battle of Armageddon. When you add up the number of Muslims in the four largest countries surrounding Israel, you get over two hundred and fifty million people, and that is only in Egypt, Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia. It’s not unthinkable that they could be in place for the battle of Armageddon. Finally, the reason the Qur’an exists is not to lead people to hell, but to lead people away from heaven. Many men have said, the best lie is the one that is 99% true. If Satan can use enough truth to trick someone into missing heaven, then they will surly burn in hell. Let’s take note of our fellow human beings, and if they are involved in a cult such as Islam, let us love them and help them to understand that God loves them, and show them how than can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
